You will need a valid referral letter from a medical practitioner dated before your appointment. Please ensure that this is sent to SalisburyReferrals@healthscope.com.au
Routine referrals from your General Practitioner (GP) for lasts 12 months. It is important for many people that their GP is at the centre of their care and treatment planning. Where appropriate, Dr Tsui will offer to speak with your GP or other health practitioners in addition to routine written updates. Please note that referral from medical specialists other than a GP (such a paediatrician or another psychiatrist) will only last for 3 months for medicare rebates. This is why the admin team will suggest that your primary and ongoing referral letter comes from your usual GP.

In general it can be helpful to bring your past discharge summaries, mental health related assessment letters or any care and safety plans regarding your mental health. You can bring a copy on the day or send them prior to the admin team prior.
In some cases, new patients will be asked for specific documents or given questionnaires to complete during the initial assessment process.
For younger persons transitioning from Paediatric care, they may wish feel more comfortable if their parents were present for part of the initial appointments.
ALL patients are welcome to bring their support person and/or advocate to parts of their appointments. For therapeutic reasons, Dr Tsui will often ask that a part of the appointment be held with her on a 1:1 basis.
Dr Tsui has put together some charts and forms to help patients collect their medication history - check out the Resources Page this document template and other helpful charts such as a Mood Chart.

For existing patients, discuss this with Dr Tsui as soon as possible by arranging an appointment. It is often helpful to consider the pros and cons of a private admission as well as the duration and goals in advance. In fact, discussion of your goals and thresholds for hospital admissions can be an important part of your overall treatment and safety planning.
Earlier discussion and collaboration ensures that Dr Roxy can take your resources and preferences and risks-tolerance into account when making treatment recommendations from the outset.
For future or potential patients, please discuss your needs with your existing team (e.g General Practitioner) who can refer you to the appropriate public or private Hospital - depending on the urgency and/or logistic factors such as your health insurance cover.

Dr Roxy does not use “generative AI” such as ChatGPT in her practice. Part of personal-specific nature and cost of care relates to the time that is taken by Dr Roxy to reflect and formulate during all clinical letters and written communications.
Dr Roxy Tsui does not outsource dictation or letter writing to any other persons or AI-assisted programs. Where possible for regular follow up appointments, you will be offered a copy of the clinical letter during or shortly after the appointment. (Letters arising from a “291 Item” require significant time for report writing and usually take around 2-4 business days to produce and as per Medicare requirements, this report is sent to your referring GP.)
